Have you ever thought of sending a video or putting it as video status buy couldn’t do it due to the large video size? Well, video compression comes handy in those situations.
Most of the time we capture video using a smartphone and due to continuous improvement in the camera quality, the video size increases drastically. Even a short video clip can reach the video size of 500MB or even 1GB.
If you consider my word truly, we don’t need video quality more than 720p on the smartphone. As you will not notice any difference in video quality more than 720p and sometimes it can be detrimental when your smartphone hangs to play 2K & 4K videos.

Compress Video on Computer/Laptops
Though the computer has several impressive software, not all are free to use. So here I come up with free open source software HandBrake which is very lightweight and does its task very efficiently.
Handbrake is available for all platforms such as Windows, MAC, Linux.
Step 1: Download Handbrake and install it in your system.
Step 2: Open the software and drag & drop the video file.
Step 3: Go to the summary tab and check the web optimized box.
Step 4: Next go to the Video tab select constant framerate and constant quality checkbox. Move the slider to make the quality between 20-23.
Step 5: Start Encoding by clicking the green video icon at the top.
Step 6: The encoding/compression may take a longer time depending on your system processor speed so, have patience.
The best thing about this application that you may get 60-70 % compression without losing quality.
