Facebook Launched Messenger Room for Video Call With up to 50 People

Facebook has also jumped into the war of video conferencing with the latest update on messenger which brought option for messenger room. If you are a beta tester you must have received messenger update.

Messenger room allows creating a room of up to 50 people of which the host must have a Facebook account but the participants need not be part facebook community. So technically anyone who has the invite link can join irrespective of Facebook account.


As of now, Facebook hasn’t mentioned anything about the time limit which can prove to be a Zoom killer in the long run. Messenger Rooms arrives as some people are looking for an alternative to Zoom, which has faced a number of security and privacy issues in the past two months.

Facebook Messenger Room will be rolling out in certain countries this week before expanding globally, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a Livestream on Friday. If ur concerned about the privacy of this then I must mention that it is not end-to-end encrypted as of now.

How to create a Facebook Messenger Room

Once the update is available in your area here is how you can create messenger room

Step 1: Update and Open Messenger App.

Step 2: Tap the People tab at the bottom right of the screen.

Step 3: Now Tap Create a Room, and select the people who you want to join.

Step 4: Suppose you want to add someone who is not on ur friend list or on Facebook then tap on share link to share this link anywhere. Facebook’s augmented reality filters and real-life virtual backgrounds will also be available. Some backgrounds will also offer 360-degree views of exotic locales.

You can join this link from a smartphone or computer basically, you don’t require any software to use the Facebook messenger room.

Facebook plans to add ways to create Rooms from Instagram Direct, WhatsApp, and Portal as well. Features will include 14 camera filters and changeable backgrounds.

Their augmented reality filters and real-life virtual backgrounds will also be available. Some backgrounds will also offer 360-degree views of exotic locales.
